The EPFL AI Center has appointed Amina Chebira as its new Executive Director, effective 1st October. She brings extensive experience in strategy, operations and technology-driven programs spanning academia, industry and applied innovation.

Amina joins the AI Center from Flywheel Exchange LLC, a medical imaging data management and AI platform company, where she most recently served as Senior Director of Solutions Architecture. In this role, she led complex programs and technology deployments for healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceutical organizations across Europe and the United States.
Her career has combined scientific and technical expertise with program leadership and organizational development. Before joining Flywheel, she led data science activities at ELCA, where she grew and managed the company’s data science team in Western Switzerland and oversaw AI and analytics projects across multiple sectors. She previously held several research, management and strategy roles at CSEM, including Head of Vision Systems Research.
Amina holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, both a Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Communication Systems from EPFL and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Université Paris VII – Denis Diderot.
With experience spanning AI, imaging, data platforms, research and institutional partnerships, Amina will contribute to strengthening the AI Center’s role as a bridge between EPFL’s research community and partners across industry, the public sector and society.
